2011 International CES - Tablets, tablets everywhere.

Rather un-surprisingly this year's CES has seen every man and his dog release their "iPad Killer" tablet PCs.

Toshiba announce they would ditch their "Folio" Tablet, in favour of a new as yet unnamed tablet. The new tablet should be released in spring and promises some very powerful tech specs.

Sharp to quote the great man himself "...saw an over-crowded market and shouted me to."-Homer with the the "Galapagos". The Galapagos boasts a 16:9 LCD touch screen and wi-fi.

Panasonic to wants a piece of the action with its VIERA Tablet. The tablet will connect seamlessly with Panasonic's internet-connected TVs, it wil be able to display information and images relating to what you're watching on your main screen. The VIERA tablet will also be aided greatly by Panasonic's announcement that the "Connect" platform will be opened to third-party developers. This should help the VIERA to have a real chance at grabbing some of iPads market share.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. So the apple chiefs must be very very flattered. I though can't help but think while everyone fights for a piece of the iPad market, what clever little gadget are Apple technicians working on to open up new markets?

2011 International CES - LG

Early news from the CES in Las Vegas.

Korean Electronics giant LG have confirmed their intention to drop the active shutter design for 3D TVs in favour of a polarised model. I'm no expert but polarisation has always seemed the better option to the physicists part of me. Its more elegant and it seems LG agree.

LG's reasons. The new screen they have developed to allow the use of simple polarised lenses are cheaper than the screens used in their current active shutter sets. Also polarised glasses cost around £1 each instead of the £100 that a single Active Shutter set would cost. Its not just about cost though, LG claim the polarised glasses offer a far better user experience.

LG intend to release up to 5 polarised 3D models in the next 3 months, with this brave step they hope to firmly set themselves as the major player in 3D TV. In my opinion they may just do it.

2011 International Consumer Electronics Show

Here at Spree4.com we are really looking forward to the goodies that will be released at CES 2011 in Vegas. Very very unfortunately we(I) wont be there, but you can guarantee we will be keeping our eyes peeled and ears to the ground as big names like LG, Samsung, Panasonic and Sony exhibit their new products for the year.

Expected highlights are the new generation of 3d tvs, oLED screens, and wireless streaming of music and Movies. Will Sonos finally have any competition, this reviewer is sceptical.
