All I want for Christmas..

Every year around this time your humble reviewer goes through about three or four weeks were he would sell his mother to own a fully integrated Sonos system. In January the feeling passes, reality hits and the dream is packed away for another 11 months.

So what is Sonos? Well it’s a wireless multi room music distribution system. It allows you to play your music anywhere in your house. Want to play Jazz in the lounge but rock in Kitchen? No problem. Having a party and want the whole house to be playing Bob Marley tracks? Easy peasy.

I did quite a lot of research on this a few years ago, Sonos is quite unique in its out of the box functionality. When you look at the “competing” products they all fall short on something. Many can’t push music to a zone, i.e decide using the same control to play the same music in the lounge and kitchen. Others can’t cope with playing different songs in different zones.

Lets not oversell this, given enough time and a good bit of know how you can create the same effect. Sonos’ benefit is they’ve done the leg work it works straight out of the box no high level knowledge of wifi needed, and the User interfaces are to die for.

Did I mention the iPhone remote? Sonos is infinitely expandable, you can buy extra zone kits to add rooms to an existing system, bridges to link up to existing HI-FIs or just speakers that will magically play your music. Even better sonos have recently provided seamless connections with a spotify account. I think it may be February before I pack this little dream away this time.

MacBook Air

The MacBook Air.

They say they have been able to make the air so thin by taking advantage of the same solid state hard-drive technologies used in their highly successful iPhones and iPods. I don’t believe it for a second, the only possible explanation is witchcraft. The MacBook air is tapered so that it goes from 1.7 cm thick to only 3 mm, and weighs just over 1 kg.

Super Thin.

It really is that thin, and what’s even more amazing is they don’t seem to have cut corners. The air still packs the puch you would expext from the MacBook range. It boasts a high resolution screen and up to 7 hours battery life means you really can take advantage of the just how light it is to take it everywhere. Its bound to be a massive seller.

The Kindle.

Gone is the cumbersome devices of old in comes a sleek stylish unit that weigh much less than most books. With 30 days (yes days) usage you don't have to worry about being tied to a charger on your travels the kindle will be going strong long after your phone has given up the ghost. Not just that but those mad men at amazon have doubled the size, that's up to 3,500 books. The e-ink display reduces eye strain as it 's well......just like paper you use ambient light to read the page just like you would a book.

Thin.

Its not just tech specs that sells the kindle though amazon have really gone to town on the user experience, whispersync means that even without your kindle you can carry on with that page turner. Kindle will let your other devices know exactly what page you are on so you can carry on reading using the kindle apps for pc, iPad, iPhone or andriod.

Read it anywhere.

The amazon kindle is one of our new products, along with the iPod Nano and shuffle.

The iPad is born

Jobs described the iPad as a device to fill the gap between smart phone and laptop. Basically an over sized iTouch/iPhone with the power to handle bigger applications like a laptop. The iPad will be available in the states by April and the 3g enabled version by may. So its safe to assume that a UK release won't be far behind.

The current range will start with a 16gb model ($499) and go up to a 64gb ($699) for non 3g models. The 3g models will be slightly more expensive but will mostly likely be available on contract and subsidised.

It also seems Apple have Amazon's Kindle set in their sights as the iPad launch coincides with the launch of the iBook website that will provided eBook content for the iPad. With Jobs saying "We've got five of the biggest publishers in the world supporting us and will open the floodgates for the rest of the publishers starting this afternoon," Amazon definitely have a fight on their hands.

We here at Spree4.com can't wait to get our hands on some.

This is the first in what we plan to be many post looking at news (and rumours) on the future must have products.

So what better to start with but the news that Apple have sent out invites to a "Secret" conference at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. The big rumour of course is the new apple tablet (iSlate, iTab etc) which Steve Jobs described as "[The apple tablet] will be the most important thing I've ever done." The rumours are flying about the specifications of the apple tablet, but knowing apple it will most defiantly be a must have product for 2010. (More rumours can be foundhere) .

Also with Toshiba announcing that they have launched a 64 gigabyte (GB) embedded NAND flash memory module. Can we expect the announcement of the 64gb iPhone 3GS and 128gb iPod Touch. Unfortunately not

All that we know for sure is these products are going to be huge and Spree4.comwill be the place to get them.

Watch this space!!!!

Well we were right and the iPad was defiantly one of the must have items for 2010.
